Thurles Sarsfields received amazing news this evening from TD's Ryan O'Meara and Michael Lowry.

Ryan O'Meara:
€2.4 Million for Thurles Sarsfields GAA - Ryan O'Meara TD

The Fianna Fáil TD for North Tipperary and Northwest Kilkenny, Ryan O’Meara has today announced a once in a generation funding approval of €2.4 million for Thurles Sarsfields GAA.

This funding has been approved by the Department of Justice under the IIP.

Speaking on this today, Deputy O’Meara said: “I am delighted to confirm that Thurles Sarsfields GAA have received conditional approval for €2.4 million for the development of their club facilities on the Racecourse Road in Thurles.

“I received confirmation from the Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan TD earlier today of this funding approval and I was absolutely delighted to share this news with the club as I have been working with them very closely on the development of their grounds in Thurles for a long time now.

“To receive such a large funding approval really is a once in a generation level of funding for a sports club. I would like to acknowledge Thurles Sarsfields GAA for their exceptional work over a number of years as they worked through the IIP process since their initial application for funding. It has been a long process, with a huge amount of work put into it and we have had to overcome numerous hurdles along the way.

“The conditional approval today of €2.4 million will allow for extensive capital development works on the site, including the Thurles Sarsfields Centre of Excellence for a stand, clubhouse, astroturf and more.

“We have some work yet to do to get this funding drawn down, but a major step in the process has been made today with this breakthrough. I will continue to work closely with club Chairperson, David O’Dwyer and their committee to ensure we dot the I’s and cross the T’s in relation to the conditions attached to this massive funding announcement.”

Michael Lowry:
"I am delighted to confirm that Thurles Sarsfields have been sanctioned by the Department of Justice for €2.4 million from the Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP). This allocation is subject to the conditions of the scheme. This financial bonanza and investment will deliver a centre of excellence for one of the greatest clubs in the history of the GAA.

Sarsfields can now bring forward their ambitious construction programme. The club will finally have the facilities to match the club's legacy. I compliment the club and its officers on their initiative and wish them well with its development."

Massive thank you to everyone involved in the work to get approved for €2.4 million in funding to develop our facilities at Toor.
