Junior B: Hard luck to our Junior Bs who were beaten in the Munster Final last Sunday by Killavullen (Cork) on a scoreline of 0-05 to 0-10. We will play John Lockes (Kilkenny) in the All-Ireland Semi-final on Sunday February 4th at 13:00 in Raheenagh, Co. Limerick.
AGM: Our AGM for 2017 was held last Friday night in the Clubhouse. Michael Maher stepped down as Chairman after holding the position for 10 years. Many tributes were paid to Michael for the effort and commitment he gave during his time in office. John Cahill was elected as Chairman and we wish him well as he steps into the position. The following were elected club officers at Friday's AGM- Chairman: John Cahill. Vice-chairman: Peter Lanigan, Ronan Spain. Secretary: Thomas Callanan. Assistant Secretary: Trevor Cooke, John Maher. Treasurer: Philip Leahy. Assistant Treasurer: Brian Burke. PRO: Aidan Barrett. Registrar: Ger Donnelly. The Committee will be finalised at the next club meeting.
U21 A Football: Our U21 A footballers lost out to JK Brackens Óg last Saturday in the 1st Round of the Mid Championship on a scoreline of 0-05 to 4-10.
Congratulations: Congratulations to Pádraic Maher who received the Annerville Award for Tipperary Hurler of the Year in 2017 last Saturday night in The Clonmel Park Hotel. This is the second year in a row that Pádraic has received this award.
Mid Championship Draws: The draws for this years Mid Championships were made last Friday night. We will face Upperchurch-Drombane in the Senior Hurling Quarter-final. We are drawn to play Moyne-Templetuohy in the Intermediate Hurling Semi-final. We are entering 2 Junior A hurling teams into the Mid Championship this year. Our 1st team have been drawn in a group with Thurles Gaels, Upperchurch-Drombane, Holycross/Ballycahill and Loughmore-Castleiney. Our 2nd team have been drawn in a group with Boherlahan-Dualla, JK Brackens and Moycarkey-Borris. Our Minor A hurling team will play JK Brackens Óg, Moycarkey-Borris, Holycross/Ballycahill and Moyne-Templetuohy/Thurles Gaels in the group stage. Our Minor B hurling team will face Gortnahoe-Glengoole, Moycarkey-Borris and Upperchurch-Drombane in the Group Stage. Our U21 hurling team have been drawn to face JK Brackens Óg in the first round.
Referees Course: A foundation course for new referees will be run in our clubhouse starting in February. Club Officer Training: Following successful Club Officer Training nights held in Nenagh and Ballykisteen early in 2017, similar sessions have been arranged for 2018 as follows- Thursday 25th January at 19:30 in the Anner Hotel, Thurles. Wednesday 31st January at 19:30 in the Clonmel Park Hotel. These are aimed at clubs in the Mid and South divisions, but clubs from the North and West are also welcome, especially if they have newly-appointed officers. 8 officers from each club will be invited to attend, i.e. Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and PRO of the Adult Club and similarly from the Juvenile Club/Committee.
